I kinda dig these— and had the similar platform W50 Dodge mini-pickup version I loved years ago — so have been watching this one on FleaBay. HOWEVER, I’m stunned to see that a quirky 30+ year old kinda-SUV will likely bring over $5000. What am I missing? Yeah, it’s a manual but they were all manual IIRC.

If it’s in good condition and rare, why not?

$5000 for a “meh” SUV without the heritage of the Bronco, or even a Scout?
Seems like a lot. Clearly I’m not the audience.... but I kinda am.

That thing looks clean, those are great, nice price if the rest of it looks as good. Manual too.

Eh, look the at the prices these days of just about any old really capable, body- on- frame off roader. Look at what folks pay for a decent XJ that remains today ... and they were a Chrysler product. Where this a rhd, imported version of the same truck with a diesel they’d probably be asking double for it.

happy to sell my W50, rust-free, for that same money...

As a non-American, a Montero/Pajero has more heritage than a Bronco, while i like the look of the old Broncos but i would be more interested in the Mitsubishi .

The hipsters stopped buying cafe bikes and started buying trucks. Of course this happens right as I try to flip a cafe bike.
It’s cool to be a big, tough outdoorsy boi.

I kinda want one, but not for $5000.
Maybe I’m just grumpy that the market’s not in the dumps. I want a 3000GT-VR4 t oo, but I probably won’t buy one of those for $1200 anymore either.

The price of everything is up these days. $5000 for any well taken care of classic car, especially if it’s from a dry climate, doesn’t sound outrageous anymore.
